My heart breaks for them. My daughter also has heart defects that luckily were detected at 1 day old...she to was seemingly healthy and got an 8 and 9 on the Apgars, she was already in heart failure whe her defects were found and needed surgery the next day. My thoughts and prayers are with Cora's family.

Thanks for the support everyone. My heart also weeps right not for the people who also lost babies too young. Help me continue to spread Cora's story. And, thanks to Natalie for posting Cora's story.

What an incrediy sad story and I feel so empty after reading about poor little Cora. Mama, she was a beautiful and special baby girl to have chosen you two to be her parents. God bless you and console your aching hearts and I wish for you the sleep and rest you need.

I plucked my almost 12 month old baby Eve from her crib as soon as I saw this. We donned the pink and snapped a pic. Our daughter's defect was very luckily caught just before discharge from the hospital. She too, lovely, healthy, high APGAR. She would have never made her one week well-visit. She was in heart failure at 5 days old. Cora, you could so easily have been someone else's baby. God, be with you and your parents as they find peace. If there is anything I can do...don't hesitate. If it offers any consolation, I meet tomorrow with a very committed team of doctors, hospital administrators and policy leaders to do one thing: make sure not ONE more baby goes home from the hospital undiagnosed - in the US. Every newborn will be screened. We are well on the way - it will happen. I'm just so sorry it hasn't happened yet. Blessings, Annamarie

I don't have a picture, but am wearing pink for Cora today. I am so saddened by this. I live very close to this mom and wish I were even closer so that I could offer a hug and shoulder. I pray that they feel the wave of love and comfort coming to them from around the world. Cora was a gift, as all our children are, and I know her family will keep her memory alive.

This post has me at tears... what beautiful words from a mother even through her grief. I cannot imagine what that family is going through. I am so sorry that I didn't see this post earlier and didn't get a chance to wear pink today. Baby Cora and her brave parents are in my prayers.

i started following kristine on twitter. her story left me teary eyed and speechless. my little sister passed away at home of SIDS when i was 2. my mom had just picked her up to feed her after feeding my little brother (the 2 were twins). i can't even imagine how hard that must have been for my mother and for kristine. i will keep her and her family in my prayers!

I am so sorry for them :( my heart is braking! I had a miscarriage on Monday December 7th '09 and it left me hurting and unable to do anything. But I can't even begin to imagine what they are going trough right now ((HUGS))
